My work on design & finishing a #FixerUpper- Home Office Project

Just as 2017 was rolling over, Ms. B switched projects at work and was required to spend most of her day working from home. A home office would make her settle well into her new task except that we didn’t have one at the time. When we moved last year, one of the rooms on the top floor of our townhome doubled as an office space and Bilkis was worried it won’t fit into what her current task demanded. So we started off thinking how do we incorporate a home office? Where’s the real estate for it?

Then Bilkis came up with an idea, “Dan, why don’t we re-purpose the half bathroom space on the bottom floor”. To be honest, I didn’t think so much of that space until I checked again. It was large enough and okay for a small office nook.

At the beginning of this year, I took it upon myself to fix my sweet Bilkis a very comfortable home office. I hurried off to Home Depot, got a few materials; tiles, pre-mixed grout, trim, wall paper for one of the walls, oak wood for the shelf. To give the room a little farmhouse look, I got twin French style distressed corbels, a 1950’s vintage film folding camera from www.Etsy.com and cotton stem from www.Amazon.com

The entire project took 2 weekends and a strained hamstring to finish, and I’m very proud of what we accomplished with this little space.

Below is a video of the finished product;

I have added some pictures below to give an idea of the effort that went into making this happen.
